Refugees Need Your Help – Ukraine War
The war in Ukraine has plunged millions of innocent civilians into a desperate struggle for survival. Entire communities have been devastated by the ongoing conflict, with homes, schools, and hospitals destroyed in the crossfire. Thousands of families have been displaced, forced to flee for safety, leaving behind everything they own. The humanitarian crisis continues to escalate, with basic necessities such as food, water, and medical care becoming increasingly scarce.
The Humanitarian Crisis in Ukraine
Since the onset of the conflict, the situation in Ukraine has become increasingly dire. Civilians are bearing the brunt of the violence, and more than 13 million people have been displaced, both within Ukraine and across neighboring countries. Many have lost their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones. The war has left infrastructure in ruins, making it difficult for aid to reach those most in need, while families are enduring freezing temperatures without adequate shelter or heating.
Food insecurity is on the rise, with millions of Ukrainians struggling to access enough food to feed their families. The conflict has disrupted farming, supply chains, and access to markets, causing prices to skyrocket. Children, women, and the elderly are particularly vulnerable, facing malnutrition, disease, and trauma.
The Impact on Families and Communities
For families caught in the conflict, the challenges are immense. Displaced individuals are sheltering in makeshift camps, schools, and abandoned buildings, often without access to clean water or proper sanitation. The healthcare system is on the brink of collapse, overwhelmed by war injuries, shortages of medical supplies, and an increase in illness due to unsanitary conditions. Hospitals are operating under extreme pressure, and many patients are unable to access the treatment they need.
Children are also suffering deeply from the effects of this war. Thousands have been separated from their parents, either displaced or orphaned by the conflict. Schools have been destroyed or repurposed as shelters, leaving children without access to education and a sense of normalcy. Many are deeply traumatized, facing the physical and emotional scars of war.
How We Are Responding
At Stichting International Refugee Humanitair Help (IRHH), we are dedicated to providing critical aid to civilians affected by the war in Ukraine. Our focus is on delivering essential supplies and support to those in greatest need, including:
- Food and nutritional support: Providing families with emergency food packages, including staples like rice, flour, and canned goods to prevent malnutrition.
- Clean water and hygiene supplies: Delivering water purification tablets, clean water, and hygiene kits to prevent the spread of disease in crowded shelters and displacement camps.
- Medical care and supplies: Supplying hospitals and mobile medical units with the tools and medicine needed to treat injuries, illnesses, and trauma.
- Winter relief: Distributing warm clothing, blankets, and heaters to help families survive the cold, particularly in areas with little or no heating.
Our efforts are focused on reaching those most at risk—displaced families, children, and the elderly—across the hardest-hit regions of Ukraine and neighboring countries where refugees have sought safety.
